The Song of Yoga

Amanda Collins is a Yoga teacher, singer/songwriter, spiritual guide and Feng Shui consultant devoted to uplifting others through music and the ancient wisdom traditions. She is at the forefront of an emerging movement marrying Yoga with live music making.

As a certified Deep Yoga instructor, Amanda blends the sacred teachings of Yoga with asana, pranayama, mantra, live music and dance. Through Yoga classes, goddess retreats and sacred journeys, Amanda helps people connect with their bodies, open their hearts, elevate their intentions, celebrate sound and explore the world.

Amanda regularly invites musicians into her Yoga classes – offering students a dynamic practice and live concert experience. Amanda’s loving guidance fuses with soulful melodies for a truly healing experience. It’s a joy for Amanda to supports local artists – from violinists to vocalists, percussionists to harpists – while offering Yogis a magical mix of movement and music.

Amanda also unites Yoga with the earth and natural elements, rejoicing in mother earth as an expression of the divine feminine. During her monthly Sacred Full Moon Yoga, Amanda leads students through a heart-opening practice on the grassy, moonlit shores of Mission Bay, alongside therapeutic harpist Cheryl Angela.

Yoga has been part of Amanda’s consciousness since childhood, when she’d marvel at her dad – an Irish sheep farmer – standing on his head in their candle-lit living room. Growing up in the Irish countryside, Amanda rode her horse through the rolling green hills, singing and rejoicing in the splendor of the natural world.

With Song of Yoga, Amanda brings alive her true passions – Yoga, music, nature, travel, community and connection – in a joy-filled contemporary way. She feels honored to guide others into their fullest selves, truths and lives.

When off her Yoga mat, Amanda is a Feng Shui consultant and teacher, who has trained with masters in China and shamans around the world. Through Feng Shui, Amanda assists the flow of energy through physical structures, while with Yoga she helps guide that same chi through the body.

Amanda also enjoys tending her vegetable garden and cooking vegetarian meals with husband Seth, exploring San Diego’s natural places and finding new ways to recycle. She starts each day, and often her Yoga classes, gleefully chanting Sanskrit and strumming her guitar.

Yoga and Live Music

Amanda conducts regular Yoga classes incorporating live music. Visit the Calendar for the latest schedule.

Enchanting Outdoor Full Moon Yoga with live Harp

Irish yoga instructor Amanda Collins and a fellow Irish Goddess therapeutic harp player Cheryl Angela. The class will be opened with chanting and will be devoted to heart opening movements and moon salutations to the sound of live harp throughout the class.

Women have paid tribute to the full moon. They saw the moon as the physical expression of the Goddess and worshipped her in ritual and ceremony. The moon is seen as a female symbol, and was worshipped in ancient times as a powerful force. It is believed to be linked to the unconscious and our feminine side. The sacredness of the moon has been connected with the basic cyclic rhythms of life. The changing phases of the moon were linked to the death and rebirth seen in crops and the seasons, and also to the female monthly cycle that controls human fertility. The moon calendar is still important and many festivals exist around the lunar phases.
This moon phase is the time of abundance, ripening and completeness - fertile and shining with the full power of feminine secrets and mysteries - like the Mother form of the Goddess, and the season of summer.

Since ancient times, the harp has been used as an instrument of healing and comfort. The resonant sound of the harp is used as a tool to promote health and well being physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We will set the intentions for the next month to be of peace, ease, and flow.

Bring your family you friends our healing is in our unity.

Participants gather on the grass lawn overlooking the bay, watching the moon will be glistening on the water. Its truly magical
